Submitted by Pittsburg1 on
A meeting was held to begin the Plans for the 42nd Annual Pittsburg Pioneer Days celebration. Pioneer Days was first held in 1973. Forty-two years later, the event has become a tradition for many Pittsburg High School alums, families, and friends.
According to organizers, attendance has grown over the years, activities evolved, but the energy created by Pioneer Days remains constant.
Pioneer Days 2014 will feature great food, sidewalk sales, a health fair, the carnival rides, the wine tasting event, a 5K run, free tours of the Depot Museum and Farmstead, the Tommy Lee Memorial Bike Run, a blood drive, along with the parade to kick off Saturday’s events.
New events being planned include a gospel singing event, a beauty pageant, and a barn dance.
