Opening ceremony of Olympics a foreshadowing of what’s to come
By Roy Knox
As of now, no African nation, South American country, or Mexico has won a medal. To be fair, there is yet to be a competition whose main objective is genocide, cutting down the “rain forest” or the manufacturing and delivery of illegal drugs.
Norway and the Netherlands are in the lead as far as total medals, as they should be. I’m guessing there is snow on the ground at least eight months of the year in both of those countries.
The United States and Canada are tied with three apiece. The Russian Federation and several others are tied at two. I`m waiting on the competition that starts off as cross country skiing, and then every five miles or so they stop and shoot a rifle at steel targets. Your time and the amount of targets hits are computed into your score.
It would be a better sport instead of skis there would be pickup trucks and in lieu of steel targets; there were feral hogs. Instead of skiing place to place, you would zip down the road, chug a beer, shoot a hog and load it.
After ten hogs, skin and gut and them, build a fire and ice down three cases of beer. Your total time, weight of the hogs, and brand of beer would determine your score. It may need to be a summer sport.
Did you see the opening ceremonies? A strange look back at Russian history, this is only interesting because this is what our country is going to look like in a few years unless there are major changes.
President Vladimir Putin is always without a shirt, fishing, hunting, or just chopping wood. It is hard for me to visualize Hillary topless holding an axe, except in a case when Bill brought a date home late at night and forgot she (Hillary) was there.
I could see President Obama sitting at the bottom of the ski run drinking red wine, eating brie and bread. More updates to come when they happen.
