Camp County gears up for March elections

The Camp County election is fast approaching with early voting period for the primary elections right around the corner. Taking place on Feb. 18 through the 28, the first business day after President’s Day, the candidates that are running are preparing their reasons and goals for their term if they are re-elected or elected into office.
The candidates running under the Republican ticket are as follows:
For county judge, Incumbent Thomas Cravey will be running again. Judge Cravey has been county judge for five and one-half years. Judge Cravey said that county government is the government closest to the people.
For district clerk, Incumbent Teresa Bockmon will be running once again. Mrs. Bockmon has been in office since Jan. 1, 2011 and said district clerk is the perfect job for her because it suits her background and interests.
 Also running for district clerk against Mrs. Bockmon is Melissa D. Tidball.
Incumbent Elaine Young will be running again this term for county clerk. Ms. Young has been in office since June 1, 1989. She served in the office for nearly 25 years.
For county treasurer, incumbent Kim Pittman will be running. Ms. Pittman has served in office since she was appointed county treasurer on June 1, 2013. Ms. Pittman said she is very comfortable in her role as county treasurer, having spent most of her career in payroll administration.
