Barrett
Graveside services for James M. Barrett, 90, were Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at Farmers Academy Cemetery in Mount Pleasant with Steve Barrett officiating.
Mr. Barrett was born Nov. 22, 1923 in Mount Pleasant. He died Monday, Jan. 27 at Titus Regional Hospital in Mount Pleasant. He was a member of the Simpsonville Church of Christ and a Church of Christ preacher.
Survivors include his wife, Wilhma “Sallie” Barrett of Pittsburg; children, Steve and Valorie Barrett of Dallas, Rick and Cheree Barrett of Ferris, Chris and Mary Barrett of Houston, Cindy and Richard Reynolds of Harlingen and David and Sharissa Barrett of Pittsburg; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-children, Rick Durfee of Bossier City, La. John Durfee and Sallie Justiss, both of Pittsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Barrett and Edith Waits Barrett, his first wife, Nancy Barrett and one son Mark Andrew Barrett.
Family members served as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 9 until 11 Wednesday morning at Erman Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.ermansmithfuneralhome.net.
Blankenship
J. R. Blankenship died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 22. Services were held Saturday, Jan. 25 with Bro. Tom Ray officiating. Interment was in the Ebenezer Cemetery. He was born Dec. 9, 1979 in Pittsburg.
Davis
Services for retired CW4 Oscar L. “Dean” Davis were held Wednesday, Jan 22 at 11 a.m. at Community Baptist Church in El Paso. He was born Dec. 5, 1926 in Pittsburg. Oscar is survived by his wife Vernetta, and daughters Rosalind of El Paso and Glenda of Dallas.
Hilton
Services for Leona Wanda Chestine Hilton, 78, were held Friday, Jan. 24 at Harrison Funeral Chapel in Naples with the Rev. Mike Maxon, Jr. and the Rev. Steven Pounds officiating.
Interment was in Lafayette Cemetery in Gilmer.
