School board hands out awards, Christmas bonuses

There were very few dry eyes at the beginning of the Pittsburg Independent School District Board of Trustees regular meeting Monday night, Dec. 16. The Board brought a little Christmas cheer early this year with bonuses for all the faculty and staff members of the Pittsburg ISD campuses.
“It’s not a great day to be a Pirate, but it is an awesome day,” Junior High Principal Terri Brown said.
The Pittsburg ISD faculty and staff members were presented with a gift for the holidays from the school board. Each teacher received $500 and each auxiliary staff member received $300.
Superintendent Judy Pollan said, “First of all, we have a wonderful staff made up of individuals who are absolutely dedicated to educating the children of Camp County. The most important thing that we can do for the students is to provide them with the very best teachers and support staff possible. These employees touch the lives of almost 2,500 kids on a daily basis. These students are blessed to have this extremely high quality staff.”
