Resident gets out of burning house with the help of close neighbor

The Pittsburg Fire Department responded to a residence fire this weekend. Fire Chief Carl Cravey released information on the fire.
“The resident Jewel Ray Ivory, was very fortunate,” Cravey said. “If his neighbor hadn’t noticed the smoke coming from the house and came right over, the resident could have died.”
According to Chief Cravey the department responded to the fire on county road 2114 at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The fire appeared to have started from the resident’s wood burning stove.
Cravey said the resident had laid down for a nap, and it wasn’t until he heard his neighbor’s truck pulling up that he woke and saw the house was on fire. The neighbor had noticed smoke coming from the house and drove over to check and see if everything was okay.
