Police nab suspect in Abernathy Alley; look for business burglary thieves

Edgar Cuellar Villegas was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 1 by Pittsburg police in connection with a burglary of a habitation. The incident occurred in the 300 block of Quitman Street. Mr. Villegas allegedly broke into the residence around 1:20 a.m. and was in a physical confrontation with another homeowner at the time officers received the call.
“The suspect fled prior to the officers’ arrival. A suspect description and a vehicle description were obtained and responding officers began searching the area,” according to Police Chief Richard Penn.
“The suspect was located a short time later in Abernathy Alley. He was first transported to ETMC Pittsburg for treatment of injuries received during the initial burglary,” Chief Penn said. Mr. Villegas was then transported to the Camp County jail and charged with burglary of a habitation.
On Dec. 5, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Pittsburg Police Officers responded to a report of a burglary of a building at the business located at 908 N. Greer Blvd.   Upon arrival, officers observed a hole that had been made in the back of the building and that the automated teller machine (ATM) inside of the building had been removed.
