Beer and wine to be sold within entire city wins election

The sale of beer and wine for off-premises consumption within the city limits was determined Tuesday Nov. 5 in a special election. The majority of the city of Pittsburg voted for the measure with a number of 134, 78 were against the measure.
City Manager Clint Hardeman commented of the passage of the new law.
“The City of Pittsburg will canvas the votes for the Nov. 5, 2013 Special Election for the Legal Sale of Beer and Wine for Off-Premise Consumption on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 12:00 pm. The Special Election resulted in 212 votes cast with the results being 134 for the legal sale of Beer and Wine and 78 against. The City of Pittsburg was petitioned to hold an election for the Off-Premise Consumption of Beer and Wine within the City Limits back in July 2013. Each business that anticipates selling beer and wine for off-premise consumption will be required to receive a permit from TABC. “ Mr. Hardeman said.
