Pirates overcome deficit, open district with a win

The Pittsburg Pirates defeated the North Lamar Panthers at R.L. Maddox Stadium in Paris Friday night, ending a three game losing streak and winning their first game on the road this season.
Former Pirate quarterback and linebacker and Pittsburg alumni Mario Willis said “It was a good win, but it was still sloppy.”
After both teams swapped possessions in the first quarter, Pirate senior Ty Smith sacked North Lamar’s senior quarterback Jacob Cowling for a safety with a little under four and a half minutes remaining in the period.  Pittsburg then scored four plays later as junior John Wayne Warrick reached the end zone on an end around run from 18 yards out.
