Phillip Jones Speaks to the American Legion

Philip Jones, the Camp County Veterans Service Officer, spoke to the Gordon Mattison American Legion Post 422 at its regular meeting on August 26th.  Mr. Jones spoke on all of the benefits that are now available.  He explained all the documents needed to obtain these benefits and to keep them in a safe place.  Many questions were asked by the veterans with particular emphasis on the VA Hospital services.  Mr. Jones stated that there were over 600,000 claims in the system and yes this backlog is daunting.  But he stated if you had all the required paper work then the process is much quicker.

The Commander stated that the Post would have a booth at Pioneer Days.  And volunteers are need to help man the booth during the day.  The Post will have a float in the parade with veterans riding .  The Post will have American Flags available for sale.  The 3 x 5 flags will be $10 and the small flags $5.  There will also be applications for the Veteran's Memorial.  The cost to place names on the Monument is $60 and there is still plenty of room add your family veteran or a friend.

American Legion Post 422 meets the 4th Monday of every month at 6 pm at the Pittsburg Senior Citizens Building, 525 Elm Street.  The Legions next meeting will be September 23rd when our guest speaker will be Don Lutes a veteran of the Vietnam Era.  There is a dinner served at 6pm followed by our regular meeting at 7pm.  We invite all veterans to attend and support our military.
