Bogus CVS bomb threat under investigation by Pittsburg Police

On Sept. 12, at approximately 2:35 p.m., Pittsburg Police Department officers responded to an unknown problem at the CVS Pharmacey located at 100 North Greer. Upon arrival, officers were able to determine an unknown person had phoned in a bomb threat into the store. Store employees had already evacuated the store prior to officers’ arrival.

Department protocol was initiated based on the threat. No evidence of an explosive device was found. The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Pittsburg Police Department at 903-856-3330.

According to District Attorney Chuck Bailey, the penalty of calling in a fake bomb threat to a business is a misdemeanor punishable up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
