Gibson wins state awards for taxidermied animals

Allen Gibson, the owner of Allen’s Taxidermy, located on Rusk Street, competed and placed in the Texas Taxidermy Association’s annual convention in Killeen on June 27-29.
“It’s my first award since I’ve been back,” Mr. Gibson said. He’s been in the business for 43 years, and he got out about 10 years ago. Just a few years ago, he decided to start again in taxidermy.
Mr. Gibson competed in the professional division, and placed third on a whitetail deer pedestal mount and third place with a life-size Urial sheep.
“It’s an honor, as tough as that competition is,” he said.
