If spring has you in the right frame of mind to do a little cleaning, don’t delay. The city of Pittsburg’s spring cleanup is Saturday, and this is a perfect opportunity to get rid of those hard to dispose of items.
From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., dumpsters will be set up by the Big Green Baseball Field on North Texas Street.
Large items, such as furniture and appliances, can be taken to the cleanup site as long as they do not have compressors. This includes items such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners. No hazardous materials will be accepted; however, oils, batteries and dried paint will be accepted.
The only cost is to dispose of tires. Car tires will be accepted for $1.50 each. Tractor/trailer tires are $6, and ag/tractor tires will be taken for $12 each. Payment must be made at the time of disposal, with exact change.
Items for the cleanup will only be accepted from city residents. Proof of residence must be presented, such as a driver’s license or water bill.
