Officers have recovered merchandise from a recent burglary and theft. This includes a four-wheeler and several items taken from a burglary of a habitation. Three people have been arrested in those cases.
Brian Dale Jones, 23, of Mount Pleasant and Christopher Glen English, 30, of Mount Vernon were charged with theft over $1,500 under $20,000, a state jail felony, for the theft of the four-wheeler. Kristina Harmon was arrested in connection with the burglary of a habitation.
On March 8, Investigator Randal Lain and Sheriff Alan McCandless recovered the stolen Honda Foreman 4-wheeler in Franklin County. The four-wheeler, valued at $4,500, was reported stolen on Feb. 28 from a residence on Farm-to-Market Road 1519 West.
“They had taken the four-wheeler from Camp County and sold it to a person in Titus County, who then took it to Franklin County to get it worked on,” Sheriff McCandless said. “After identification was made, warrants were issued for the arrest of Mr. Jones and Mr. English.”
Mr. Jones was arrested March 17 on a routine traffic stop in Titus County for the Camp County theft warrant. Mr. English was arrested on a traffic stop the following morning by Franklin County officers on the warrant. Both are still incarcerated in those counties.
Ms. Harmon was arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation after a home was burglarized Feb. 25. Some merchandise from the home on County Road 1240 was recovered that afternoon and the next morning.
“Deputy Bo Tucker and Investigator Lain responded to the burglary of a habitation call that afternoon about 6,” Sheriff McCandless said. “A substantial amount of jewelry, a pellet gun and a laptop were removed from the home.”
Investigator Lain was interviewing a neighbor when he observed a piece of jewelry that matched the description of something that had been reported stolen.
“Ms. Harmon ultimately admitted to participating in the burglary,” Sheriff McCandless said, “and other suspects have been named in this case. Some jewelry and the pellet gun were recovered. The laptop was sold in the Mount Pleasant area, but it has not yet been recovered.”
In addition to burglary of a habitation, Ms. Harmon was also charged with possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff McCandless said numerous Camp County residents have experienced home burglaries and theft of items such as four-wheelers and trailers.
“It is very important that neighbors keep an eye on their neighbors’ property as well as report any activities they consider suspicious and/or vehicles in the area,” he said. “The sheriff’s office continues to get calls from citizens after burglaries and thefts have been reported, when they may have observed something suspicious but failed to call.”
