When an apology is an insult

Last Sunday, at the commemoration of the historic Selma to Montgomery civil rights march, Vice-President Joe Biden expressed guilt for not joining in with the demonstration in Alabama nearly a half a century ago. At the time of the marches, he was attending the University of Delaware in Newark and almost all of this spare time was spent visiting his future wife Neilia Hunter who was attending Syracuse University in another state. So we are to believe Biden feels guilt for not attending what was then a radical demonstration instead of spending time with the love of his life and future mother of his children.
Before you Democrats go crazy, this is not an indictment of a political group; it`s more what our country morphed into. We have become a country of apologists. Find an issue or problem, and I can find you a group of people that are unbelievably embarrassed by the situation and will offer apologizes in hopes of rectifying them. We really don`t mean it, but I guess it makes us feel better.
I regret now some of the things I did as a child, not watching history as it unfolded is one of them. My parents were glued to the television while the lunar landing was happening. My mother tried to get me to watch, but there was football to play, and besides if it was truly important it would be replayed. History happens every day. I remember seeing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. leading marches and making speeches; I was not yet a teenager and their importance was lost on me. I have regrets that I wasn`t more interested at the time, but these are personal losses and I owe no one an apology. If you apologize for everything, even things that are out of your control, then soon the apology is worthless. If you take up someone`s time with a worthless apology, then don`t they have the right to feel insulted?

•Morrissey (English singer) pulled out of performing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” because he was booked to appear at the same time the stars from “Duck Dynasty “were. Morrissey, an avid and outspoken vegetarian, refused to be on stage with people who were famous because they abused animals. I read the account in a British newspaper, and I’m guessing the true story is more like he was afraid he (Morrissey) would say something to offend these rednecks and they would backhand him back to reality.
•Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano had no part in the decision by underlings to release “low-risk” (only robbed, raped, or murdered Republicans) illegal immigrant detainees, in a way to save money before the sequestration.  With Napolitano not knowing, there was no way for the White House to know. Transparent government; President Obama promised and this is an example of how that works.
•Robert Luetge and I grilled 300 steaks to feed the Luminant employees who were receiving safety and environment training last week in Mount Pleasant. Don`t confuse us with professionals; we pretty much cooked them the way we wanted to and it was the employees job to just eat them with no complaining.
•Still no news on a new contract for Tony Romo. It is critical to sign Romo to a cap friendly contract so the Cowboys can retain or replace players.
