Who’s the best chili cook in Camp County? Find out Saturday at the third annual Camp County Community Chili Competition, sponsored by the Camp County Chamber of Commerce. The competition takes place at the First United Methodist Church’s Ministry Center, 209 Mount Pleasant St.
“Competitors will be able to begin setting up booths at 8 a.m. They must be in place and ready to be judged for the best decorated booth at 11,” said Allen Weatherford, executive director of the chamber of commerce.
At least 10 will vie for the People’s Choice Award with balloting beginning immediately following the judging of the booths. Tickets are $5 for all the chili you can eat. Balloting closes at 1 p.m. and the winners will be announced at 1:15.
“For just $5 you can go to each contestant and sample the chili and vote for your favorite,” Mr. Weatherford said.
The winner takes the trophy home to display for one year. Their name will be added to the last two years’ winners, M. Dussetschleger and Life’s a Beach.
All proceeds from the chili competition will benefit the Camp County Chamber of Commerce.
Tickets are available at the chamber of commerce office at 202 Jefferson St., or they may be purchased at the door. For more information, call the chamber office at 903-856-3442.
