The city of Pittsburg’s Annual Kids’ Fishing Day is scheduled for Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Fair Park on North Texas Street. The event is open to children 16 and younger.
“This event is a great opportunity to encourage kids to spend time outdoors and enjoy new outdoor recreational activities,” said Clint Hardeman, the city’s main street/economic development director.
Bait will be provided, but children should bring a rod and reel if they can. Representatives from Texas Parks and Wildlife and game wardens will be available to help the kids fish and provide fishing poles to those that need one.
The Kiwanis Club will cook a hot dog lunch provided by Brookshire’s Grocery, and the Lions Club will provide hot chocolate. The trophies will be sponsored by Pittsburg Floral, Nickco Recycling and Big Earl’s Bait & Tackle Galley Café.
